Many people may not know that Wildwood and our adjacent farm have been in my family since the 1930’s. My great grandfather and grandmother arrived from Germany to settle in our little town of Newberg, Oregon and began life on a small farm just up the road from Wildwood where my grandfather was born and raised along with his eight siblings. All went on to farm the surrounding areas, my grandfather included, who didn’t go far and settled on property across the road from the sanctuary, then acquiring Wildwood soon thereafter. I feel lucky to have spent my childhood in such a amazing, beautiful place, learning to love animals and nature, spending most my time outside, always looking for any animal to save, walking through open fields with amazing farm animals, wildlife watching in the woods and down the lane. I always knew I’d work with animals, becoming a veterinary technician then going on to found Wildwood Farm Sanctuary and Wildwood Conservancy @wildwoodconservancy in the hopes of helping animals and the environment, and most importantly helping people make compassionate, caring connections in their own lives. I’m happy to share this little slice of heaven with volunteers and visitors alike, hoping everyone takes a little part of Wildwood away and are themselves inspired to promote compassion and inspire change. Stay with me on this journey of farm sanctuary life, where I’ll talk more about the history, animal stories from the sanctuary and other interesting things. 💚#tbt❤️ #founder #beginning #familyfarm #generations #preservinghistory #sanctuarylife #farmsanctuarylife
