We’re adding some great improvements for our birds and their quality of life. You can help!!
As you know, our sanctuary saves a lot of money while providing expert round-the-clock medical care, thanks to the fact that our founder, Shauna, is a veterinary technician. She’s assembled a mini treatment room where our residents get routine labwork and minor treatments like bandage changes and medications.
Foot problems are common in birds, and recovery often requires the patient to limit their activity and keep their brace or bandage clean and dry. But when Shauna treats larger birds like geese and turkeys, they don’t have a dedicated area to comfortably rest and recover. So, we’re adding a secure enclosed pen to serve as our bird infirmary. It’ll go inside our existing cow barn, allowing the patients to be comfortable and near the other animals while they’re under doctor’s orders to take it easy for a few days.
Our second project is for our happy little gaggle of ducks, who are about to get a roomier habitat with a natural-feeling pond. Their existing habitat is already nice and roomy with a perfect mix of sun and shade, but we’re going to give it a much higher roof and add an in-ground pond to replace the kiddie pools they currently use. The pond will have rocks and natural materials around it, making it more of a natural duck habitat.
With volunteer labor and plenty of good old-fashioned farm work, we’re able to make these important upgrades for just $3,000.
And,from now until we reach our goal, everyone who donates is entered into a drawing for a great collection of Wildwood-themed gifts. The winner will receive a tote bag of hand-picked goodies valued at $100 or more.
It’s just our way of saying thanks for helping us provide the best-possible care to our feathered friends.
